Obama And Biden Having Friendly Lunch In D.C. Leads To Pining And Hopeful Tweets (VIDEO)

Barack Obama and Joe Biden had a friendly lunch today at a Washington, D.C. bakery that supports a good cause. The sight of the pair enjoying each other’s company, and video that emerged of the two, seemed to cause two reactions from people commenting on Twitter – either pining for the days of the Obama administration or hopeful that the future could be like that once again, possibly in the form of Biden for 2020, if Biden decides to run.

The two were at Dog Tag Bakery, which benefits disabled veterans and military spouses. Biden could be heard jovially calling Obama “the boss”. Obama said yes to a fennel salad (imagine Trump ordering a fennel salad). Here is video of the pair interacting as they ordered. This person’s tweet can be seen to be in the “pining” category, as she wrote, “omgg Barack Obama and Joe Biden just ate lunch together in dc. miss them so much.”

Dog Tag Bakery was proud to have the pair at their business, tweeting, “Look who stopped by for lunch today! Thank you and for supporting our mission of empowering veterans with service-connected disabilities, military spouses, and military caregivers!”

Responses to this tweet were also often in the “pining” category, as in this meme featuring the Obamas and the Bidens and the phrase, “Remember when America was great”.

Others hoped that the “dynamic duo” might help get us out of our current predicament with the Trump administration:

Another said, “I hope they’re planning some secret strategy to save the country.” Perhaps there is a strategy in place, namely gearing Biden up to run for president.

Biden is still considering whether he will run for president in 2020. Many people view Biden as a strong contender, given his experience, his appeal to everyday people, and his ability to remain unflappable, even amused, amidst conflict, which would be very helpful in debates with Donald Trump. According to The Hill:

The sighting comes as Biden is widely seen as considering a run for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination in 2020. While speaking in Bogota, Colombia, earlier this month, the former vice president said he would decide whether he would run for president by January. “I know I have to make up my mind and I have to do it by January,” Biden said.

Judging by the reactions on Twitter, it seemed that just the sight of Obama and Biden together and enjoying each other’s company made people feel at ease for a moment, as if they could take a breath and relax their shoulders from being up by their ears due to the troubling antics of the Trump administration. That feeling supports a blue wave for the upcoming midterms and a Democratic win in the next presidential election.
